Cisco has made drastic changes in the CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) and CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) certification exam from February 24, 2020.  With Cisco expanding into other technologies such as enterprise infrastructure, some tracks were removed and new ones were added. Before February 24, 2020, both the CCNP and CCIE exams cover several tracks. CCNP covers eight tracks, which are CCNP Routing and Switching, CCNP Cloud, CCNP Collaboration, CCNP Data Center, CCNP Security, CCNP Service Provider, CCNP Wireless, and CCNP Design. Nowadays, CCNP wireless and CCNP Routing and Switching are integrated into CCNP Enterprise Infrastructure.  To get a CCNP certification before February 24, 2020, you need to pass three or four CCNP certification exams. However, under the new CCNP certification, you only need to pass two exams, a technology core exam and a concentration exam.

As regards the changes in the CCIE certification exam, the old CCIE exam covered almost all the tracks with those of CCNP except Cloud. However, after the 24^th of February, 2020, the CCIE exam will include CCNP Enterprise Infrastructure (focuses on wired networks), CCNP Enterprise Wireless, CCIE Data Center, CCIE Security, CCIE Service Provider, and CCIE Collaboration.  To get certified, a candidate for CCIE certification must pass two exams, a technology core exam, and a lab exam.

The good news is that the written exam for CCIE certification is the same as that of CCNP. This means that after passing the CCNP written exam, you can now take the CCIE lab exam.

CCNP/CCIE exam details

The CCNP/CCIE exam is composed of 50 to 60 questions, which you must complete within 90 minutes. For those applying for a CCIE certificate, they must take the lab exam after passing the CCNA/CCIE written exam. The new CCNP exam costs $400 in the US.
